Today's blog post is extra special because I personally know this couple. In March of 2022 (maybe it was late February), Chris reached out to let me know he wanted to propose to Hannah. He gave me the date and it just happened to be the day that another best friend of mine was getting married. I told him that we had to find another day because I could not miss the chance to photograph their SURPRISE proposal. He told me Hannah wouldn't want it any other way and we found a day that I was available. On the day of the proposal, I remember hiding out in a coffee shop, just waiting for his text. I was SO nervous. It was my first surprise proposal and I wanted the photos to be perfect because Hannah is one of my very best friends. The proposal was absolutely precious and from March to December, Hannah and Chris planned the perfect winter wedding. I did their engagement photos and Hannah's bridals and it was such an honor to document these moments for them.
Hannah and I taught together for 6 years and during that time, our friendship grew super strong. I watched Hannah get her precious dog Ruby, she supported me through becoming a mom (my daughter LOVES Hannah), and we both started businesses while teaching together. We were (and still are!) each other's biggest cheerleaders, so when Hannah asked me to be a bridesmaid in her wedding, I was so honored! I told her that I really wanted to be her photographer too because I wanted to make sure every single moment of her day was documented and she gave me that opportunity. I will seriously never get over how special it was to photograph her wedding.
And now that you know a little bit of why their wedding day was so special to me, here are the photographs!
Their wedding was at The Loft at Congdon Yards in High Point, NC. This venue is industrial with the most beautiful brick and wood. While they were married in December, you would have thought it was spring. The weather was perfect and not cold at all.
If you have ever been to a wedding, you know how emotional the ceremony can get. Not only do you get to experience the love that the couple has for each other, but often they share how different people have impacted them and their relationship. 3 of the most important people to Hannah and Chris are his sons and her dad. Hannah's dad passed away in 2021 and she honored him throughout her day in the most beautiful ways. My favorite being a reserved seat for him at the ceremony where she had a framed photo. As each bridesmaid and Hannah passed his chair, they laid a flower there in his honor. It was truly beautiful and took everything in me not to start crying (I had to be able to see to take the photographs!) Another touching part of their ceremony was their vows. Their vows to each other were so heartfelt, but Hannah stepped over and made vows to her new step sons and it still warms my heart to think about the promises she made them. Chills honestly just thinking about it!
Not only was this day emotional and so full of love, but this crowd knew how to party too! The reception pictures are some of my favorites. What a perfect day!
